How to Sign Up for ChatGPT (Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners)

Today I’m going to walk you through exactly how to create a brand new account on ChatGPT so you can start using AI right away. It’s a super quick process, so let’s dive in.

First, open up your web browser and go to chat dot openai dot com. You can also just search for “ChatGPT” in Google and click the main result from OpenAI.

Once you’re on the landing page, you’ll see two buttons: “Log in” and “Sign up.” Since we’re starting from scratch, go ahead and click “Sign up.”

You have a few options here. You can enter your email address manually to create a traditional login, or you can choose “Continue with Google,” “Microsoft,” or “Apple” for a faster sign-up. If you choose the email route, you’ll need to create a password that is at least 12 characters long.

After you click continue, check your inbox. OpenAI will send you a verification email. Open that email and click the “Verify email address” button. This will take you back to the browser to finish up.

Next, it will ask for a few personal details, usually just your full name and your birthday. Enter those in and click “Agree.”

Depending on your region or the current security requirements, you might also be asked to verify a phone number. If that screen pops up, just select your country code, type in your mobile number, and enter the code they text you.

Once that is done, you are in! You’ll see the main chat interface with a text box at the bottom. You can now type “Hello” or ask your first question. And that is literally all it takes to get started.
